Steve Greenberg is a retired software engineer. He spent almost 40 years writing software in the field of electronic design automation. He started his career working "in house" for integrated circuit manufacturers and computer manufacturers. As the industry changed, he shifted to working for the major vendors of electronic design automation software.
This career has taken him from Massachusetts to Texas, New Jersey, California, and Oregon. He has travelled for businsess to Canada, England, France, Sweden, Germany, and India. He and his wife are now retired back in Massachusetts.
Around sophomore year in college Steve's political leanings changed from conservative to progressive. What has remained constant in his politics is the promotion of policies that work for the betterment of people and society. What has changed is his judgment of what works. He recognizes the strengths and the weaknesses of the free market style of organizing economic activity. He believes in using an understanding of actual human behavior in planning government policies.
In the latest contest for U.S. President he has contributed small amounts of money to Barrack Obama, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson. He would also contribute to Hillary Clinton if she needed it, or any other progressive candidate that could use a contribution for a good cause.
He joined the Off The Bus project for the chance to contribute campaign coverage of substantive issues that are important to the country. Thinking that the "main stream media" often cover trivia, this is a chance to see if something better can be done.
Steve maintains a personal website to keep in touch with friends and relatives, to entertain himself during retirement, and to practice some of his software skills.
